Overcoming Overwhelm when planning a wedding

by Amy Hudsonupdated on September 15, 2019March 12, 2019Leave a Comment on Overcoming Overwhelm when planning a wedding

Planning a wedding can be as full of emotion as the wedding day itself. Many people truly underestimate the amount of time it takes, how much money it costs, and the stressors it adds to your relationships because most people have never planned a big event at this point in their lives. In my 11 years …

  • How do you know when you’re going through an “up level” in your life? For starters, there’s a lot of fear around something you want or need to do. You’re taking a chance and there are no guarantees. It can quite literally feel like you’re dying and, in some ways, you are.
.
Old stories of staying small are reaching their expiration date. Limiting beliefs of not being good enough aren’t holding up anymore. The fear of leaving your comfort zone is looking better than staying there forever. Taking risks looks a little fun.
.
You’re leveling up, my friend. You are done playing it safe. It’s time to make your move, take up space. Pay the deposit on that contract. Pick up the phone and tell her how you feel. Release the need to control the outcome in every situation. Book the plane ticket. Buy the domain name. Ask for help. Move.
.
If you argue for your limitations, you get to keep them.
.
We are rapidly approaching a time where your excuses won’t hold up anyway. Like the Tower in tarot, shit is gonna fall apart one way or the other. There’s no need to be afraid though. You get to decide how actively you will participate in the shift. You can choose to feel hopeless, or you can get excited about the new beginning that is around the corner. It’s a space full of possibilities!
.
It’s true, nothing will be the same... AND that’s OK. I, for one, welcome this new level. It’s been a long time coming.

  • The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I am thankful for this house and the crew that takes care of it. I am thankful for the freedom and opportunity and connections it makes. I am thankful for the comfort and support this purple front door brings to me. As my businesses grow and evolve, so do I. Or maybe it’s the opposite. In any event, I’ve created an IG account just for my special space, to share her story and the stories of those who stay there. You can follow her at @purpledoortinyhouse.

  • We took today at a slower pace. My feet and legs simply couldn’t cover as much ground so we spent more time sitting. It was wonderful!
.
Sitting gives you the opportunity to observe and appreciate your environment. I’ve seen Nick smile more in the last two days than I’ve seen in the last two months. Racing brings out the inner child in both of us and we are having so much FUN!
.
Our tickets are general admission, hence the 23 miles of walking we’ve done in two days, and we decided we like the spot by turns 3, 4, and 5. This stretch of track is known as the “S”es. It’s not really an overtaking zone or the fastest part of the track or even a hard breaking zone. It’s our favorite because you can truly see how fast the F1 cars can fly through corners. It requires precision and focus. If anything goes awry with the timing or you go off line, you can go off track, and fast. I have so much respect for the technology in the car and the skill of the driver in those corners.
.
Racing is one thing that brings me into the present moment. You see, when you’re on a bike or behind the wheel, everything that doesn’t concern THIS MOMENT goes away completely. You’re focused on the track ahead, the various ways you will execute turns or passes, and experiencing sheer exhilaration when flying down the main straight. There is nothing else like it. In a way it’s like meditation. Your monkey mind gets very quiet and you are totally in your body. I highly recommend the experience. If you get the chance, ride along with a professional or advanced driver. Surrender to the fear of not being in control and experience the freedom that comes when you let it go. 💕

  • When you walk over 28,000 steps in a day, you soak your feet in a salt bath with #Lavender, #Frankincense, and #Panaway. Our Airbnb doesn’t have a bath tub so I’m improvising with the kitchen sink. Did you know you can get blisters on the balls of your feet while wearing sneakers? Mine are about the size of half dollars. 😬🤣 #day1 #worthit #usgp #cota

  • If you recently met me or perhaps didn’t know, I’m a Motorsports fan. I spent many weekends in my youth on my grandparents farm watching my dad and uncles race dirt bikes. I went to races and watched my dad heat after heat. Our family still favors the #17.
.
I went to Owensboro Catholic High School which also happened to be the same school where Tommy, Nicky, and Roger Hayden went. I followed #MotoGP closely the last few years #NickyHayden raced and mourned his loss greatly along with the my friends and family who knew him. He was a real hometown hero. 🏍 #MotoGPWorldChampion
.
When @hudson4272 and I started dating and I found out he was into auto racing I was pumped to be back at the track supporting someone I loved. It brings back so many good memories. When I told him about the family racing history he figured it was a casual thing, until he saw my uncle’s trophy collection and his dirt bike on display. Did I mention my dad and uncle are the chiropractors for the Hayden family? Racing is everywhere. So no, I don’t like racing because my husband does. 😘
.
This weekend we are at @cota_official for the @f1 race. #usgp Adding one more Motorsport event to our collection. 💕

  • Got a drink from #Starbucks today and it’s barely drinkable. Not because they left out the Vanilla in the Vanilla Flat White, which they did, but because whoever made my drink was wearing hand lotion and now the fragrance is all over the lid of my drink. 🤢
.
Over the last two years I’ve been slowly removing more and more toxicity from my life. I started with the heavy hitters first — cleaning products. Over time I’ve switched our hand soaps, bath soaps, shampoo/conditioner, most of my make-up, deodorant, and so on. Using products infused with essential oils vs synthetic fragrance means that I’m now super aware of the chemical stuff when I smell it.
.
Three THOUSAND (yes 3,000!) chemicals are hidden under the umbrella term “fragrance” in personal care products. That’s in addition to the toxic ingredients that they DO list, like methylisothiazolinone (find out more about how toxic this one is here: https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredient/703935/METHYLISOTHIAZOLINONE/). Many of the chemicals hidden on labels under the term “fragrance” are endocrine disrupters, irritants, carcinogens, nerve cell toxicants, organ system toxicants, and can bioaccumulate in the system, and build up... and make you sick and contribute to symptoms you may be experiencing. This is why I’m always talking about ditching conventional products and switching to #YoungLiving. YL products don’t contain fragrance, or SLS, or SLES, or methylisothiazolinone.
.
Using non-toxic products may seem to be addressing only the physical body, but it also addresses the non-physical aspects of your being. The more sensitive to energy you become, the more the physical aspects of you want to be cleaned up too. It simply doesn’t feel good to use chemical-laden products!
.
If you’re ready to level up, lose the stuff that’s lowering your vibration. For now I’ve poured my drink into a different cup and added a little honey to sweeten it.
