Sound Healing Therapy with Crystal Singing Bowls
Everything is made of frequency and vibration. Whatever you touch, taste, smell, see, and hear is composed of moving molecules that are interacting with you. You are also comprised of moving molecules.
What science tells us is that humans hear frequencies from 20 Hz up to 20,000 Hz. We also know that frequencies exist outside this range because other animals can hear them but we can’t. For example, dogs can hear higher frequencies than humans while elephants can hear lower frequencies. We also know that we can only see certain frequencies within the visible spectrum (colors of the rainbow) but there are all sorts of wavelengths undetected by the human eye!
What does this mean? It means there is a whole helluva lot going on around us that we can neither see nor hear. Science is still uncovering how we interact with those unseen frequencies. Gamma rays, x-rays, ultraviolet rays, infrared rays, microwave rays, and radio waves are all known to exist because we use them daily in many cases. We also know some to be toxic to our natural frequencies while other waves are proven to be beneficial. In some circles, it is believed that sound is the future of medicine! Just Google “sound as medicine” and see what pops up for you.
Some of the potential benefits of sound healing include:
— lowers stress
— decreases mood swings
— lowers blood pressure
— lowers cholesterol levels
— lowers risk for coronary artery disease and stroke
— improves sleep
Now let’s be clear. I am not a doctor or physician. I make no claims beyond my own personal experiences. When I play my crystal singing bowls I feel relaxed and can occasionally go into a trance-like state even when I try not to while leading a group healing. It is also possible to feel mild to moderate discomfort during and/or after the session. In my experience, this is when you are out of resonance with the frequencies played and you feel the discord.
All my life sound has been front and center. As a child, my parents noticed that I didn’t hear what they said or would say “huh?” often. I had my hearing checked and it was discovered that my hearing wasn’t considered “normal.” I recall one particular time having my hearing tested (which happened annually) and wondering if the sound that I was hearing was coming from the headphones or inside my head. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I even knew there was a name for the constant ringing…
As I put the pieces together I came to understand that the “hearing loss” from which I suffered all those years was not actually a hearing loss at all. Instead, it was my brain’s way of allowing me to function on a day-to-day basis. You see, my brain tunes out anything that is the same or similar frequency of the ringing in my ears so that I can focus on other sounds. The watch alarm going off or the old-school cell phone rings would be the same frequency as the ringing inside my head and thus my brain ignored it.
Desiring to understand WHY I had this ringing led me down an intense path of healing. Dozens of healers (conventional, alternative, and metaphysical) have all had their say about what is “wrong” or why it’s happening and to date, no one can really agree.
When crystal singing bowls came into my life, I was at a plateau. I was burnt out on the healing path. This is when I learned that I, too, am a healer. Spirit apparently thought sound medicine would be the best for me and I still find this incredibly ironic. In time Spirit has told me what the ringing actually is and it’s so simple it’s almost laughable. All this time, the ringing is simply frequency. In other words, I hear a different range of frequencies and they don’t all correspond with what is taking place in the physical realm. I hear higher frequencies all the time. There is, in fact, nothing wrong with me at all. Imagine that.
The crystal singing bowls I use are made of quartz crystal. They resonate more with the Divine Feminine energy compared to the metal Tibetan singing bowls. Their tone can be felt throughout your entire being. I say “being” instead of “body” intentionally. Your being extends beyond your physical body and the vibration of the bowls can reach those areas too. In fact, vibrational has a magnificent way of penetrating deep into the very cells of your body, reaching areas that may very well be inaccessible otherwise.
When you lay on my table or attend a group healing, you are being tuned whether you consciously realize it or not. Your frequency is being raised and anything that is no longer a match for your new frequency begins to fall away. In some cases, clients have told me that they experience intestinal or bowel discomfort the following day with a very literal “clearing.” In other cases, you may feel emotions rising within you to be released. Elation, relaxation, peace, burning, floating, heaviness, weighted… these are all words I’ve heard used to describe their experience.
Visually it looks a lot like a savasana at the end of a yoga class. You lay and enter a meditative state. Contrary to what people may expect you don’t “do” anything. This is a passive practice that centers on receiving. There is no skill-level to attain or seek. There is no training, practice, or experience required. It simply needs an open heart and an open mind.
I am attuned to Reiki 1 and 2 so all of my work will include Reiki’s healing energy. It flows through me and through my life, always. The one-on-one work that I do with someone can expand into an intuitive energy reading if you’re open to it. Messages can come through from Spirit for me to pass on. I always ask for the Highest and Best Good of all involved and for the healing to elevate us both.
