So much of our happiness depends on how we choose to see the world.

I am a perpetual optimist.

I look for the good in people.

I trust that everything happens for a reason.

I choose to see the silver lining in all situations.

I always focus on the positive.

These aren’t affirmations for me. They’re how I live my life. It’s who I am. I’ve been referred to as “unrealistic,” “naive,” and maybe even “illogical” due to this fact. Whether it’s behind my back or to my face, it’s OK.

I have been developing my gifts and talents for more than a decade now. I can’t count how many hours I’ve put in furthering my own education (after graduating college) on a myriad of topics. I know who I am. I am smart. I am driven. I am tenacious. I am resilient.

Most people choose to live life on the sidelines, afraid of making mistakes, and content just watching others (such as me) take chances. Then complain that they don’t have what they want and are jealous when other people do.

What are you choosing to see? The opportunity or the challenge? The upside or the downside? The possibilities or the struggle? It’s YOUR choice how you view the world. There is no “being realistic” because everyone’s experience is very much real regardless of how you view life. You actually get to choose. So own it. Stop blaming Trump or your boss or your spouse or your parent or your circumstances. If you aren’t where you want to be, that’s on you.

My name is Amy Hudson and I am the creator of my circumstances.
